This external air ventilation system was designed for handling multiple 3D printers that are close to each other.  This is how we keep the air in the 3DUPfitters print factory, aka the spare bedroom, clean enough for people to live in the same house with dozens of 3D printers. While there hasn't been any definitive research on the long or short term health effects of exposure to 3D printer fumes, running dozens of 3D printers in a small space compounds the air quality issue to the point where it needs to be addressed. While its theoretically possible to design an air filter that will handle 3D printer particles, what the CDC recommends is to vent the 3D printer gasses to the outside.

Here you see one of our enclosed print stations, each consisting of four Prusa MK3S printers. 

At the back of each enclosure is a gated vent that can either be used by itself or daisy-chained to another enclosure.  The gate slides back and forth and can either be completely open for maximum airflow or completely closed for maximum enclosure temperature.

The vent adapters are designed to be used with flexible 3" dryer hose to take the air from the enclosures to a 110CFM 120mm fan.  This changes up the design of the airflow from a push model, with the fans in the enclosures, to a pull model, with the fan next to the external vent.  This design change was required for our setup with 4 printers since in a daisy-chain pushing air from one enclosure could theoretically push that air into a neighboring enclosure if that enclosure's fan was off.

Here's one example of what the ventilation system looks like in practice.  If you only had two enclosures it would make sense to connect each one directly to the fan's Y-connector.  

This combination of parts is designed to be flexible to fit whatever configuration you want to fit your situation.  This can be connected to the outside using an existing clothes dryer vent, or you can purchase one of the many compatible window-venting kits.
