This is a new type of post, this time highlighting the cool things you can do with a 3D printer and enclosure. (The filament used was ABS, with next to zero warping.)
One of my pet peeves is a cluttered kitchen counter; it doesn’t leave any room to work. A clean work surface invites a new project, while a messy one just says, “Here’s another mess to clean up,” which kills any creative process.
Towards that end, I’ve been wanting to get the knife block off the counter and the knives moved to a little drawer next to the stovetop. You can buy them online, but none of them fit the drawer exactly to hold all of our Henckel and Shun knives. This little design of mine uses pegs to hold the separate pieces together, but it still requires a Prusa XL print bed on a diagonal to fit the largest knives. This arrangement holds a cleaver, bread knife, 10" chef, two 8" chefs, two santoku 6", and numerous paring knives.
